Dr. Amar Kuruganti
Dr. Gifford and her wonderful team are excited to welcome Dr. Amar Kuruganti to Kenson Downtown Dentistry as the new owner. Dr. Gifford has spent a great deal of time and energy carefully searching for the best person and clinician to gradually take over the care of her long-standing and loyal patients. Dr. Gifford and Dr. Kuruganti met each other several years ago through dental continuing education events in Ottawa and immediately felt a great connection with one another. Dr. Kuruganti is very much looking forward to working alongside Dr. Gifford and her team and taking care of our wonderful patients.
Dr. Amar Kuruganti grew up in the lovely small city of Brockville, Ontario. He began his journey towards becoming a dentist at the University of Guelph where he graduated with his Honors Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics and a Master of Science in Human Biology and Nutritional Science. Deciding to further develop his social science background, he then went on to complete an Honors Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from the University of Ottawa and graduated with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) in just 2.5 years. Dr. Kuruganti then moved to London, Ontario where he completed Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western University in 2014. Upon graduating from Western University, he was awarded the prestigious Canadian Dental Association’s Student Leadership Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership, scholarship, character and humanity and the Dr. John McLister Service Award for demonstrating exceptional leadership and service to the profession of dentistry. Throughout his undergraduate, graduate and dental school career Dr. Kuruganti was a prominent leader who was involved in a vast array of volunteer and extracurricular activities. He is a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Canadian Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Ontario Dental Association, the Ottawa Dental Society, and the Bytown Study Club.
Dr. Kuruganti continually strives to deliver the highest quality of dental care to his patients. His focus is on ensuring that each patient has a personally tailored positive dental experience. He enjoys exploring various advanced treatment options through continuing education to ensure that his patients are always receiving the most up-to-date quality care.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kuruganti has a great passion for cooking. He particularly enjoys sharing his love of food and cooking with his young daughter as they create delicious masterpieces and extravagant messes. Dr. Kuruganti is also an avid reader who enjoys books on ancient history, behavioral economics, psychology as well as mystery fiction and historical fiction. Within the last few years, he has discovered another great joy in listening to audiobooks and podcasts. Dr. Kuruganti and his family thoroughly enjoy spending their time being active outdoors. Above all else, he is very family-oriented and strives to maintain an optimal life-work balance so he can be a loving and attentive partner and father.
